I just put up some pix of the blizzard of 06, here. Hopefully, we'll be able to get out of the house today and take some more.

Macro Equipment

I thought I would post a little about how I take the macro shots in case anyone is interested. The gear is:

Nikon D70S body
Nikkor 60mm micro lens

I usually try to shoot macros at a very low ISO, 200 usually. I usually use an f/stop between 2.8 and 5. And I usually use the bracket function that is available on the D70 set at 3 frames 1/3 stop. This way I get a range for depth of field.

I just put four new pix up in the B&W Macro gallery. I was experimenting with the Depth of Field on each picture. They are all of the same flower that I found just down the street.

The National Photo Awards website does contests on weekly, monthly, and annual basis. The awards are just for fun up to $1000.

Music in studio or on the road

I've noticed that when I'm taking pix whether walking around or around the house that I tend to listen to certain types of music and that the music seems to effect the outcome of the pix.

Has anyone else ever noticed this?

Black and White magazine has opened submissions for their Portfolio Contest 2007 The awards are as follows:

30 spotlight features - in the monthly magazine
15 excellence awards to be published in the Special Edition
